Andrew Rotherham

As a Senior Advisor to Whiteboard and Co-Publisher of the Education Insider, Rotherham brings state and federal policy experience honed as Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy at The White House during the Clinton Administration and a state board of education member in Virginia. Rotherham, a partner at Bellwether Education, writes a regular column on education for TIME as well as the widely read education policy blog Eduwonk.com.
In addition to regular columns for U.S. News & World Report, Rotherham has written for a wide-range of publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Politico, Education Week, The Washington Monthly, and The Times of London as well as academic and trade publications.
He currently serves on the board of directors for Democrats for Education Reform, The Mind Trust, and the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia as well as advisory boards for The Broad Foundation, Education Pioneers, Harvard University, and the National Governors Association.
Rotherham has also authored or edited four influential books on education policy. Rotherham is a co-founder and partner at Bellwether Education, a non-profit organization working to improve educational outcomes for low-income students. In addition to Bellwether, he founded or co-founded two other successful education reform organizations including Education Sector and served on the boards of several other successful education start-ups.
