Title: Senior Associate

Rachel Vessey Gibson focuses on federal and state policy and is the Associate Publisher of Education Insider. Most recently, she served as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education where she helped develop and implement policies related to Race to the Top and the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund. She worked closely with states and districts around the country as they implemented major federal grants and reform programs, most notably serving as New York State's lead program officer for their $696 million Race to the Top grant. In addition, she managed the production and publication of national reports on Race to the Top grantee progress. 

Rachel holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where studied social enterprise and interned at J.P.Morgan’s higher education and non-profit investment banking group. Prior to business school, Rachel spent four years working at inner-city schools in Harlem, New York City. While there, she taught 6th grade social studies, launched a library program for 280 K-8 students, and led foundation and corporate fundraising efforts. She received her undergraduate degree in American History & Literature, magna cum laude, from Harvard.
