This week, Senators Marco Rubio (R) and Michael Bennet (D) introduced a bill that would create new pathways for accreditation for alternative providers. The proposed bill would create a 5-year pilot program that offers an alternative, outcomes-based process for institutions to be eligible for federal financial aid. Students at higher education institutions (including both existing colleges and new providers) that meet certain criteria through this process would be able to access federal student aid programs.
