Whiteboard Advisors on NPR's On Point

Great discussion today over at NPR's On Point about the Digital Future of Textbooks.  Tom Ashbrook had myself and two other guests on the show, Katie Ash, staff writer for Education Week and Education Week’s tech publication “Digital Directions" and Charlene Chausis, Manager for Technology Training & Integration at the Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill.  Great discussion about the benefits and potential challenges coming out of Apple's announcement last week.

One point I tried to emphasize is how these new ebooks can help support the notion of a flipped classroom by packaging print, images, and multimedia (including lectures) into the ebook form.  Students can watch the lectures and read the material at home, freeing up more time for interactive discussions in class.
