August 2012 Education Insider: Presidential Election
This month's survey asked our Insiders to interpret what each presidential candidate's election might mean for education. Key findings include:
- Insiders are critical of some aspects of the Obama Administration’s education policy – especially with regard to states – but give the President better marks on the issue than Governor Romney.
- 59% of Insiders think a second Obama term means more of the same on education policy rather than big new initiatives.
- 0% of Insiders think President Obama will be tougher on teachers unions in his second term than he is now.
- Contrary to public speculation Insiders are more cautious about whether a Romney win would mean an overhaul of current federal student loan policies. But Insiders think a second Obama term could be bad news for for-profits in higher education.
