FY2014 Presidential Budget Overview
President Obama released his fiscal year (FY) 2014 budget on Wednesday. Overall, the proposed budget recommends $71.2 billion in discretionary funding for the U.S. Department of Education (ED), a 4.6 percent, or $3.1 billion, increase above the 2012 enacted level.
The PresidentлЊs budget focuses on several key education themes: early learning; college access and affordability; and educational innovation.
"We must continue to build on the reforms already transforming classrooms across the country," said U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan in a press call on Wednesday. "Strategic investments in our educational system will not only provide more opportunities for millions of Americans, but they will strengthen our nation's workforce as well."
