At the end of last year, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed into law, marking the first major overhaul in K-12 education legislation since the No Child Left Behind Act. Though the bill is still in the early stages of interpretation, our research team has been unpacking its implications for state school leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors.

Yesterday, we teamed up with EdSurge to host a webinar on the new law. W/A co-director David DeSchryver offered a detailed analysis of ESSA’s major changes. EdSurge reporter Blake Montgomery guided an expert discussion with W/A Senior Advisors Governor Bev Perdue and Andy Rotherham, along with Carissa Moffat Miller of the Council of Chief State School Officers. We covered a lot of ground, including the new bill’s potential impact on assessment, accountability, technology, and funding, as well as participant questions about the changes that states and districts can expect in the coming months.

Thanks to everyone who joined us! If you missed it, check out the full recording here. You can also access the presentation slides here, and don’t miss the recap in„ EdSurge.„ Of course, if you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact David.„
